Lineo Delivers Embedded Linux Development Environment
for MIPS Malta(TM) Board/MIPS32® 34K(TM), CodeSourcery Edition

TOKYO, August 1 --Lineo Solutions, Inc. (“Lineo”, HQ: Nagano, Japan/CEO & President: Kenji Futatsugi), a leading provider of embedded Linux solutions/development tools for consumer electronics devices, today announced the release of the latest embedded Linux development environment.

"Following the RBTX4938 version released last month, Lineo uLinux ELITE Board Support Package MIPS Technologies Malta Board/MIPS32® 34K CodeSourcery Edition employs CodeSourcery’s tools," said Akira Kobayashi, Executive Manager of Solution Department, Lineo. "Two main features of this product are; adopting new-and-stable CS tools, and allowing to develop Linux products for latest MIPS boards. We hope this development environment is widely utilized for the products with MIPS architecture.”

Mr. Kazufumi Nakagami of MIPS Technologies, Inc. said, “As the MIPS32 34K core is supported by widespread Lineo’s embedded Linux, we believe this product promotes and expands development of multithread functions in embedded applications than ever before. The multithread function we released at the beginning of 2006 provides high execution efficiency with low-operating frequency, and nonconventional “programmability” for increasingly functional-and-complex SoC for embedded systems. This ASE (application specific extension) is for all embedded application developers to actualize the differential products from their competitors. The basic architecture is MIPS32, which is widely used for embedded applications and establishing stable development environment by over 200 eco-partners including Lineo. MIPS will actively and continuously engage in Linux and GNU open source community and support embedded application development.”
