Lineo provides the uLinux Universal Edition for the TX7901 MIPS RISC processor-based AVM79R reference design of Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC), announced on March 18th.
Moreover, Lineo introduces "ELITE", the powerful integrated cross-development environment that configurates, customizes, and deploys Linux-based embedded solutions to the products.

--ELITE on Windows Host--
"We are in the final development stage of the uLinux Universal Edition, which supports standard Linux," said Tatsuya Takeuchi, CTO. "We plan to release it at the beginning of July 2003. In order to enhance quality, the beta version demo is now underway for specific chip vendors and OEMs. Since we have been involved in actual Linux development up to this day, we are fully aware of the issues of embedded Linux to overcome. Embedded Linux is now required to solve longstanding problems of footprint, boot time, realtime, accurate memory management, power saving and so on for the coming ubiquitous devices. We are making satisfactorily progress as well in developing ulinux to accommodate such needs."
